Emily Williams- Jazz & Tap
Emily Williams (Tap, Jazz & Ballet) has been dancing since the age of three and is thrilled to once again return to the Burlington Dance Company as a faculty member. Emily has trained at BDC since the start of her dance career, and is an alumni of the competitive program where she trained in tap, jazz, ballet, lyrical and pointe. Throughout her time in the competition circuit Emily received many awards as part of the ensemble, and for her solo work, including The Ultimate Ballet Award, and the Eastern Canadian Tap Conference scholarship.
Recently Emily graduated from York University, completing her Bachelors of Fine Arts (BFA) Specialized Honours in Dance in the Choreography and Performance stream. Emily has had the opportunity to train in contemporary, modern, ballet and creation under professional dance artists including, Tracey Norman, Syreeta Hector, Susan Lee, Catherine Glasser and Nicole Rose Bond. Throughout her time at York, Emily has performed in York Dances 2020, 2021 and 2022, the 50th Anniversary Festival of Dancing at York, and Intersections and shared her choreographic works as part of York Dances: We Are Here 2021, and most recently Dance Innovations: Liminal Spaces 2021. Emily recently had the opportunity to choreograph and perform her solo dance film work in Aeris Körper’s online iteration of PROSPECTS 2021. In the 2021/22 school year Emily was a welcomed member of the York Dance Ensemble, and the Co-Artistic Director of York University's student run emerging dance production Bloom. Emily is excited to continue to explore dance post-graduation as a performer, choreographer and teacher, and share her love for dance with the next generation!
